“Absolute luxury”
We couldn't believe the resort when we got there, it was like stepping into a James bond movie. The service was outstanding and the staff could not do enough to help us. The main pool was being renovated at the time so they upgraded us to pool villa, which was superb. The only fault I experienced was that I had to leave ;) On our return to Perth we told everyone to drop what they were doing immediately and book a week at the Maya.
“Well worth staying at”
Food was very good and well prepared (no stomach issues). Cocktails where excellent although 1/2 of what you would normally get, so make sure you have them during happy hour and they are worth it. Did not get bitten by mosquitoes, they have them under control. Excellent Internet connection which was free. (Intercontinenal was a mirror opposite in most respects( Make sure you get a driver and visit the surronding area. Ubud itself was underwhelming. Don't leave a tip for the cleaner on the last day as more senior people sweep the room, $10 dollars will keep there scooters in petrol for two weeks and the cleaner will be over the moon, $10 is a huge deal to them.
“Outstanding!”
The arrival. from reception to settling into our room, was effortless with all the hotel staff going out of their way to make us feel welcome. The thing that hits you is the peacefulness around the hotel and grounds. Although for a couple of days during our stay there was the sound of chainsaws in the local bush area, it in no way spoilt our holiday. The hotel is a bit away from the Ubud centre but they supply an hourly shuttle bus up until 5 pm. After that, for a minimal fee ($5), they will use a hotel car to take you where you want to go and collect you afterwards. The hotel food was superb and, although expensive according to local standards, the price was comparable to most good restaraunts in Australia. Try the nightly themed buffet, we are not normally buffet fans but these were excellent. We also took advantage of the hotel Spa which again was more expensive than in Ubud but you get what you pay for and the treatments get cheaper the more you have! We went to Ubud with the intention of getting 'out and about' to sample the local culture and in the end spent the majority of our time within the resort complex, that said we dont feel we missed out! This hotel has a 4.5 star rating and a 5 star feel. The staff, from the General Manager down gave the impression they could not do enough for us. We aimed to relax and recharge our batteries and that aim was certainly achieved. We dont usually frequent the same place twice but we will be sure to return to the Maya!
“Unsurpassed tranquility and relaxation!”
You couldn't wish for a more relaxing and rejuvenating holiday in such beautiful surroundings and with such courteous and attentive staff. Small details like providing a sewing kit and a shopping bag came in very handy too. Thoroughly recommendable if you want the quintessential relaxing holiday!
“Beyond our expectations”
A wonderful hotel in a beautiful part of Bali - 5 star in everyway!
“Ubud gem”
Our stay at the Maya Ubud Resort was so great, we did not want to leave. Overall, the staff were fantastic and we loved the food - breakfasts every day were delightful and we stayed in one night to enjoy a beautiful Balinese feast al fresco, complete with traditional Balinese dancing and theatre. Make sure you book in one day for the Maya Resort Balinese cooking course - it's great! Other highlight were - swimming in the 2 infinity pools, both of which look straight over the most stunning tropical rainforest gorge and bubbling river; morning yoga outdoors in the lush garden setting; cocktails in the bar at evening time. We are definitely coming back!
“Super property!”
This is a wonderful property all around except for one thing: it has no gym which is rather strange in this day and age. But otherwise if one wants to spend some time in Ubud it certainly is a magnificent place to stay!
“Our favourite hotel in the world”
We have visited Ubud many times. This was our second visit to the Maya and it will not be our last! Relaxing, serene atmosphere, stunning architecture, sophisticated chic balinese decor, 10 hectares of beautiful grounds and gardens, two pools (1 child free). 6 different restaurants/bars/cafes/lounges, the best mie goreng in Bali, Staff don't make you feel like just another guest - an engaging balance of friendly, professional and caring. Complimentary touches - daily yoga, pilates, nature walks in the beautiful terraced gardens down to the ravine, afternoon tea in the bar, daily room snacks. We were even provided a breakfast picnic box for our early departure! Highlights: 1. the village cycle tour along back roads and through rice paddies that included a visit to a family compound, riding through the middle of a religious ceremony and an artist's studio. 2. Morning outdoor yoga with locals harvesting coconuts. 3. breakfast is an event 4. Tuna cooked on a hot stone at your table in the River Cafe. 5. Our pool villa.
“Paradise in Ubud!”
My husband and I spent 3 nights at Maya Ubud and enjoyed the resort's peaceful setting, beauty, pool overlooking the river gorge, excellent breakfast and great proximity to downtown. The spa is one of the best I have ever experienced, with a open villa overlooking the river so that you hear the sounds of the river while enjoying an amazing massage. I highly recommend the resort and hope that we can return sometime soon.
