“Thank goodness for affordable luxury”

I stayed here after spending one night at a hovel. The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and my room was incredible. My wife found it online for me and we weren't sure what it would be like, but all the reviews were true. It is convienently located near restaurants, the rooms are spacious, the pools incredible. Nothing is too difficult for the staff, the wi-fi is good and the restaurant is also good. I'll be staying there again next time. Can't rate it highly enough.

“Great place to stay”

Comfortable and staff are very helpful. Bali transport tours forgot to pick us up for airport departure so a staff member from Desamuda gave us a lift to the airport. Convenient location and hassle free compared to Kuta.Cheaply priced if booked as a package deal with Expedia.We always fly with Garuda,the flight is more comfortable and less hassle free compared to other airlines.

Area recommendations

Seminyak area is just as cost effective as any other area.Less hassled than Kuta area.

Family-friendly activities

Waterbom Park would have to be one of our highlights during our stay. Cycling in Ubud is a great way of seeing the rice fields with beautiful breathtaking scenery. Planet Hollywood Diner has the best meals I have tasted in a long time.

“Great value for money!!”

We were extremely happy with the hotel,the staff were excellent very accomadating,& friendly.The laundry service was very affordable so next time we would pack a quarter of our wardrobe.The driver service is excellent however it is so easy to jump in a cab when the transport is not available.We would definately go back! Loved the staff!!!!

My favourite massage Jari Manari is just 2 minutes walk from the hotel is a must but be warned its addictive!!

“more nights”

everything of our villa great. very relaxing. its alovely place to stay.staff was very friendly. food was good. its close to some good shopping and nice places to eat. beach is only a 15 minute walk which is good. cant wait to get back there.

“Perfect For Honeymooners!”

We couldn't be happier with our stay here! From the staff, to the breakfast, to the villa itself everything was impeccable! The front staff were more than happy to arrange tours for us and happily took us to get money changed. They also arranged a free shuttle to the airport when we left. The breakfast offered a huge range of options and everything was delicious. We had dinner at the restaurant one night and the food there was also delicious and great value for money. The villa was amazing! We had a one bedroom with a private pool and it exceded my expectations! The only downside of the whole experience was the renovations happening but that's just a minor detail that didn't bother us really. I would love to stay at Desamuda again. Hopefully we will be back soon!

Dining

Just down the road from Desamuda Village is a restaurant called Rio Bar and Grill. This place is amazing, some of the best food I have ever eaten in my life and for incredible prices. I highly recommend eating here at least once!

“Not impressed”

1)Sales Staff overlooked on the Arrival transport arrangement. Had to wait for a good 2hours at the Airport. Room reservation & transport arrangement was made 3 months in advance. 2)Poor service recovery. Departure transport arrangement was not arranged accordingly. Had to remind again and again. 3)Inconsistent service. Quality of food such as porridge and fruit platter was not served consistently 4)Poor customer service. GM knew about the situation but tried to ignore the whole situation.

“Great value for the location”

If you want to stay somewhere close to quality shopping and away from the busy tourist crowd this is a great place. It is a central location and the service is excellent. The free transport is a real bonus. It is a long walk to the beach but if that is not high on your priority you can book the free transport and they will drive you there. It has traditional decor, a little old now, but represents great value for money. I would happily recommend it.

Seminyak, it is away from the regular tourist crowd.

“Very satisfied”

Would definitely recommend Desamuda Village. Had a villa with a private pool - about 5m x 3m so a decent size for the 4 of us after a day out. The villa itself was well set out. Ensuite bathrooms with outdoor showers in both bedrooms. Bedrooms air conditioned and has mosquito nets. Both bedrooms had TV and a safe is in the main bedroom. We had 2 living areas; one upstairs and the main one downstairs which is great with teenagers. Villa serviced daily and at night staff returned to turn down beds. Desamuda run a shuttle into Kuta or into Seminyak area - just have to book a time or take a chance. Location is a bit off putting to begin with but it seems that alot of villas in this area are located down narrow lanes. A walk out to the main road (only a short walk) finds boutique shopping and restaurants aplenty. A short taxi ride to Seminyak beach also provides more shopping and the beach. Taxis are extremely easy to find and are very cheap. The only thing we feel could be improved is the breakfast at Desamuda. They probably could include a couple more varieties of cereal, maybe some yoghurt and a better selection of fruit. They do cook up eggs on request and their omelettes are yummy. Overall, we were thrilled with our accommodation and really miss the outdoor shower.

Area recommendations

Seminyak is great and you don't get hassled as much as in Kuta. Great restaurants and boutique shopping. For something special try a nice night at one of the restaurants right on the beach eg. La Lucciola. The Waterbom Park in Kuta is good to visit with kids.

Getting around

When transferring from the airport if there are more than 2 plus luggage probably better to organise a van for transport. We had to end up getting 2 taxis and because this was our first visit and didn't know the place or speak the language, was a bit stressful. We always used the Blue Taxis which use meters. Very cheap to get around. The taxis are small so with 4 of us it was always a tight squeeze.

Family-friendly activities

The Waterbom Park was good to visit for a few hours. You can hire towels and lockers for your time there. They use wrist bands with barcodes and you have to preload money onto it. The only problem we had with this system is that with 2 teenagers wanting to do their own thing once inside, it was difficult for them to access with wristband for drinks and food as it was with us.

Other

Allow plenty of time to get to the airport to catch a flight. The traffic is hectic most times of the day and on a day trip we were caught up in a traffic snarl. Also once at the airport, lots of security checks to go through before boarding a flight.

“Great find! Would def stay again.”

Great experience right from the start. We got a room upgrade to a deluxe villa with pool which was very nice. The rooms are great and having your own private pool is pretty cool. Very clean, modern setup. Gardens and setting is nice and quiet which gives a good break from the hustle outside. As other guests have stated, breakfast is not extravagant, but the chef will cook you up an omelete and the rest of the food options are quite nice IMO. Would stay again and recommend to others.

Area recommendations

Seminyak. Not as crazy as Kuta, nice beach, good restaurants and shops.

“Lovely resort. A quiet, realxing haven from the nearby buzz.”

We booked a two bedroon villa, and on arrival were upgraded to a three bedroom for two thirds of our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious. My sister and I had piles of fried rice and noodles, and adored it, but my husband would have preferred a bit more of a western option. The location is fabulous for boutique shopping. The beach is a 15 minute walk, or a cheap taxi ride away. Couldn't fault the place.

Must see

Ubud - hire a car and driver for the day (we used one recommended by the resort/hotel).
