“Astonishingly Bad”

In all of my travelling experience I have never come across ruder or more confrontational staff. admittedly this view came from the actions of one staff member, but all hotels are judged on everyone that works there and it is the job of good hotel management to ensure a consistency of service and throw out the bad apples. This is clearly not a priority for this hotel.

“"Needs a makover"”

This hotel is in a great location and the staff are more than willing to assist but you can see their constant embarrassment when again only one of the three lifts are working or the room door lock key cards fail again. On a positive note the Vue restaurant on the top floor is excellent. I would possibly consider staying at the hotel again if some basic routine maintenance program is carried out.

Area recommendations
Downtown area is central and close to good restaraunts and transport.

“Can't wait to go back”

We arrived in Ackland at 4.30 am after a long day/night of traveling, and we did not have a check in till 2pm that day, so on arrival to drop off our bags at the hotel we where offered a room straight away at no cost to us, so in this day when you hardly get anything for nothing we where most impressed.

Area recommendations
The Harbour in the City, great dinning and views.
Getting around
Do not catch a cab from the airport, cost us $85.00 and that was not in peck hour traffic, the airport/city bus was $16.00.

“great experience”

The price I paid for the hotel was fair, looking back I think the quality is worth it. The staff was very nice & knowledgeable about the area, on two occasions they guided me so that I can save money on transportation and on dinner. The hotel itself was awesome, I had a nice view of SkyTower, this hotel is very centrally located, just a few feet from the entrance you can get to the main transportation center, Britomart, and you can also catch a ferry close by in Queens Wharf. The room was very clean and comfortable. I had just two issues, one is that the internet was not complementary, but I found that to be the case in most hotels in NZ, and the rate was ridiculous, I recommend finding an actual internet cafe, you will pay less or even most McDonalds have free WiFi. The TV was also giving me some problems, I really didn't care much about the tv but someone else might, I think it was a simple malfunction, probably would have been fixed by resetting it by calling front desk, so it was not a big problem. The hotel has a restaurant/cafe at the top, I only went there once because I had a discount coupon, but I thought the prices for breakfast were too high, all the other days I ate out for a lot cheaper. I did not try to place for lunch or dinner. I highly recommend this place, when I return back to Auckland this will be my first hotel I look for reserving.

“It's OK”

OK for a single traveller for a quick stay. The rooms are clean but small. Hotel is in a central location close to the airport bus stop. The room temperature seems to be centrally regulated so can not be changed. There was some noise on the weekend from nearby outside parties. Overall, a good budget hotel representing good value for money.

Area recommendations
Ponsonby is a nearby street with some quirky shops and very pretty cafes - not to be missed.
Getting there
Just take the airport bus. It drops you right around the corner from the hotel.

“Great World cup location”

Close to the harbour fan zone for all world cup happenings. Clean, neat & tidy. Rooms are a tad small but comfortable. A great view in the restaurant.

“Old, noisy and inefficient ventilation, bad service”

What a poor experience. According to the reception : "in this hotel, it is normal that the heating system takes 30 minutes to start heating" ! That ventilation / heating system is quite noisy (even if turned off !) As an expedia guest you'll be placed in one of their old fashioned style room. quite poor with an extra used carpet. Already had some renovation. Definitely needs more ! Beds : too hard Lighting : very poor Staff : didn't see them smiling Another of those Accor group hotels, that might have been good 20 ~ 30 years ago, not anymore. Prices : really too high for such a place. Note : all comments say the place is great. That's right. But many other hotels are also placed in the center (which by the way is rather small, so it doesn't really matters).

“great location”

Hotel is in the heart of Auckland, walking distance to the Domain with harbor view. It's surprisingly quiet. Be sure to book parking in advance if you want it; we had to park several blocks away (though that was cheaper than parking in the hotel garage). Reception staff were not particularly helpful or friendly, but otherwise a good experience.
