“Great location, good not great”

We stayed in a Superior Double room which was clean, reasonably well furnished and had a great view. Not quite luxury but very comfortable and extremely convenient to all the tourist attractions and services. We had a good breakfast and a great dinner in the hotel restaurant at very good prices, but there are also lots of restaurants nearby to choose from. Our only real complaint was the lack of a power point within reach of a mirror.

Area recommendations

Viaduct harbour is just around the corner and is buzzing with restaurants.

“Noisy but nice”

The hotel is well located in the CBD and commands great views over the harbor. Unfortunately it has nightclubs in the immediate neighborhood which made it very noisy on the Friday night we stayed there. May be better earlier in the week.

“THE HOTEL THAT TIME FORGET--NOT IN A GOOD WAY”

Its not a bad hotel-great views, great location, very clean but its very tired-even a bit shabby. The bathroom was very disappointing!! The walls aren't that sound proof-I had to listen to a group of girls next door talking late into the night. I think the Hilton on the wharf would be a better experience even if it is more expensive. The staff were very good but its more like a 3star hotel at best.

“A lovely place to visit”

We were welcomed by friendly staff at check in and handed a voucher for a free 10 mins massage, just the thing after a 2.30 a.m. start for a 6.00 a.m. flight. The service was good, the room very clean, the location excellent. Everything to suit the needs of the traveler was available. The only suggestion we made was for new pillows. The room was not huge but we were not in very much as we caught up with family. The view was wonderful of the harbour especially at night. The location, opposite the wharves where the ferries were available to take you on tours or to the opposite side of the harbour, the train station only a 5 min walk from the hotel, taxi rank next to the hotel, shops 5 minutes away along with a duty free shop where one could prepurchase prior to departure and the goods delivered to the airport. The restaurant served an interesting and delicious menu, service was excellent and the ladies who cleaned the room were very friendly and accommodating. Overall a welcoming experience and we would certainly use this hotel again.

We would recommend where we stayed but we did not venture out in the evening as we had busy days. With only 4 days in Auckland this was the perfect location. We would recommend the area for convenience as we had stayed in another hotel on a previous visit but found this area one we would return to. Maybe the view did it!

“Most convenience hotel in Auckland”

It is so easy to walk around city from the hotel, and there are very good view for the harbour.. but we do wish some one can help us to find the small security lock of our luggage if it is possible. we don't know if there is any chance can find it over there or not. We are stay in room 505, please contact me if you have there email address. Many thanks John He

“Good hotel in heart of CBD and viaduct dining.”

Good hotel. Only issue like other Copthornes is that front desk staffing is too lean. people are excellent - just not enoungh. provision of concierge to deal with issues other than checkin and departures would help. Parking excellent - and near all major travel modes.

“Great location, Friendly personnel”

Great personnel, great location, they just need to get new bedspreads to replace the stained ones. It is worth the few extra dollars to get a room on the 8th floor and above with the view of the harbor.

Traveller's tip

2009, July, the cab fare from the airport to Copthorne hotel was fifty NZ dollars about thirty US dollars. The maritime museum is a block away along the harbor,it was very nice. Walk along the harbor, it is lovely.

“Well located though somewhat tired Auckland hotel”

The hotel rooms are clean but somewhat tired and need of a refresh. Having said that, I chose the hotel because of its location on the waterfront and I was not disappointed. I will stay here again on my next stay assuming similar attractive rates are available. Otherwise will consider Westin or Sebel, both also on or very near waterfront.

Traveller's tip

Walk out the front door of the hotel and a couple of blocks to the left are many restaurants around an attractive harbour basin containing two America's Cup boats and many other power and sail yachts.

“Good Choice in Auckland”

Very reasonable hotel, great location, good staff, other than the hotel is 10 to 15 years old (but well maintained). Check-in/out was trouble-free with no surprises. The room was clean, beds OK, but the decorating was a bit drab. Lots of local nightlife nearby.

Many, many interesting restraunts (on the water) within a 3 minute walk...
