“Great deal in the heart of Athens”
I stayed at a few hotels during my stay and the Attalos provided by far the best combination of affordability, location and comfort. It isn't anything fancy, but it is very affordable and in a really prime location in the heart of the city. The beds aren't the most comfortable, but the rooms on higher floors had great views, if somewhat small windows to see them from. The room is not a place you'll want to hang out and while away the day, but if you're just looking for a place to stash your clothes and grab some sleep between full days of sightseeing or business (I was in town for both), it really can't be beat.
“Super Duper”
The place was fabulous. People very kind and helpful. Great location. View perfect. Private bath - perfect. Price perfect. Glad I picked this place.
“Attalos Hotel stay in Athens”
Extremely centric. Very warm people treatment from hotel personnel - extremely helpful. Hotel is not top of the line but very affordable for 4 of us (2 adults & 2 kids) traveling thru Europe.
“Good value, great location”
Attalos Hotel has kept itself up. The room for two was a little tight, but otherwise OK. Bathroom was remodeled. Beds (twin, together) were reasonably comfortable. It was clean; the patio on our back room was nice. It overlooked other buildings but no road, so it was quiet. There was a view to the left of the Acropolis. 4th floor but actually had 2 working elevators. Walking distance to all major antiquities sites and to the Central Market. Breakfast was generous; not excessive; just fine to keep us going for hours. Staff was pleasant.
“Would stay here again”
We had a great time, and especially enjoyed the roof bar with its great view of the Acropolis. The location of the hotel is within very close walking distance of everything in the central city. The staff was kind and patient, and the rooms were kept very clean.
“3 star quality for the price of 2 stars! Don't miss the rooftop bar with Acropolis view.”
I just spent 4 nights at the Attalos Hotel in Athens and was very impressed with the general presentation of the hotel, its attentive staff, its facilities and its location. It's billed as a 2 star hotel, but in my opinion, could easily be classed as 3 star. It's on a wide, main road so is fairly safe for walking to and from at any time of day or night, which as a solo female traveller, was important to me. If you're not familiar with Athens and just look at a street map, some of the roads that look to be main roads are actually more like long, narrow side streets! For the first two nights of my trip, I stayed at the Carolina Hotel, a couple of blocks away from Attalos, and although I would also recommend that hotel for its facilities and convenient location, the general standard of that hotel wasn't as good as the similarly priced Attalos and I wasn't as comfortable walking back to the first hotel at night - it wasn't the worst area, and I had no problems, but the surrounding streets were narrower and more deserted. My room at Attalos appeared recently renovated so had a lovely, new feel with shiny floorboards and a nice rug. The bed was fairly comfortable and the room and ensuite were cleaned thoroughly each day. The shower was hot with good pressure. The hotel itself has a TV and computer lounge for guests with free internet/printing. There is also a great rooftop bar with a clear view of The Acropolis that was lovely to relax at with a glass of ouzo on a warm evening :-)
“Perfect Location”
The Attalos Hotel is in a perfect location - close to the Metro; the Hop on Hop Off Bus; the Plaka and the market. The view of the Acropolis from the Roof Top Bar was truly amazing. The room was very clean and nice and the little bottle of Oyzo was a great welcome to Greece. My husband and I were backpacking the Greek Islands and the staff even let us leave our packs at the hotel after check out until we headed for the Airport. We would definitely stay at this hotel again. Thank you!
“A slightly old fashioned hotel in a great area”
The hotel is a bit dated but very clean and the staff are very helpful. The room was comfortable and had a little balcony overlooking the Acropolis. The rooftop bar was great. The best thing was the convenient location. Close to the metro, near Plaka, near the Acropolis and all the other places you might want to go.
“Great value!!!!”
Very clean hotel and friendly service. Wonderful location with great views of the Acropolis. Hotel staff gave great advice for restaurants in the area. Good size room and balcony. The only thing I would say is that I wish the bed sheets were thicker. Great hotel for your money!
“Location, economical and friendly”
We were very pleased with this hotel, very centrally located in the Monastiraki district of Athens, walking distance to everything. The hotel was a small, quaint older hotel with simple rooms and bathrooms. The roof top garden bar was the place! with an amazing view of the Acropolis and city. Rooms had small refridgerator and a/c however, the bathrooms were small with a laundry sink sized tub and handheld shower head. You can't beat the price for this very central location. We had a fabulous stay and the guys at the front desk we always busy, patient and helpful. This hotel is also a 3 short block walk to the Metro station, which is extremely clean and efficient and an economical way to get around Athens if your destination is too far to walk...i.e. to/from the airport or the port of Piraeus. Would highly recommend the Attalos!
