“Stay here!”
One of the best hotels we've stayed in. Conveniently situated opposite the main railway station the hotel has a railway theme (right down to the dining car dining room). Staff are so helpful. Loved it!
“Pretty Decent for the Money”
The A Train hotel in AMS is in a great location, right across from the Amsterdam Central Station and close to (almost) everything that matters. The rooms are tiny - not recommended really for more than one person IMO - but the hotel is well kept and VERY clean. The staff was freindly and helpful (which sometimes can be difficult to find in AMS for a lower cost option). All in all I was quite pleased but just keep in mind the rooms are very small. Oh yeah breakfast was excellent - nothing fancy but really good quality and again the room was extremely clean.
“Exceeds expectations”
The A train hotel is centrally located and very easy to get to from the airport. We booked the family room and I was expecting a squishy room with four beds, but it was a great apartment very well equipped for my high energy, playful kids. The staff were very friendly and helpful and my kids loved the breakfast. The only thing to note is that despite letting the hotel know our arrival time the rooms were still only ready at the check-in time (3pm, I think), this did not worry us since we could leave our bags in their luggage room and start exploring, but some travellers may have other expectations. We stayed only one night and I did wish that I had been able to stay a little longer, the A-train was an excellent base for exploring Amsterdam.
“Pleasant Stay”
I think this is a great hotel if you are looking to stay in Amsterdam for a few days. It is not spectacular, but for what you pay, it is well worth it. They had a nice breakfast, staff was very courteous, and you are just 3 minutes away from central railway station, as it is just across the blvd. It is a quaint hotel, and I recommend it
“Decent hotel”
Excellent position, near Centraal Station. Rooms and bathrooms are small yet very clean. Breakfast is ok (three kinds of bread, butter, three kinds of jam, two kinds of cheese and ham, orange juice, tea and coffee, milk and cereals). Overall ok for the money, but hotels in Amsterdam are expensive
“Good value for the price.”
Great location. Just make sure you ask for a room in the back (B section). We had a front room the first night and it was very nosiy as the hotel is on the main boulevard across from Central Station. The room was clean but I guess the muted colors made it seem a little tired. The breakfast was a nice selection of meat, cheese, bread, hard boiled eggs, coffee and juice. Very adequate. The staff was friendly. We would stay here again.
“The only good thing about this hotel was the location”
We booked a double room in this hotel, only to find when we arrived that we had been put in a twin room. Upon informing the man on reception, we were told that they didn't know we had reserved a double room (even though it was clearly stated on my booking form) and that they only have 4 double rooms in the hotel. In the end we had to settle for pushing two beds together. There was no free wi-fi, the T.V in the room looks like it's from 1986 and a cup of hot water will set you back €1.20. The hotel decor is old fashioned (the whole steam train thing is quite twee) and the breakfast options are poor - fruit bread, toast, cereal and some ham & cheese. My girlfriend found a flea in the bed! She found it when it bit her arm. Upon attempting to bring a friend back to our room we were rudely advised by the staff on duty that it was not allowed. This made me feel like a teenager on a school trip, which I am far from. The only positive is that it is a handy location being so close to Centraal Station
