A two-story, 600-square-meter (6,500-square-foot) health spa contains an indoor pool in a glass-walled pavilion equipped with jets for hydrotherapy and a current to swim against. Massage, hydro-massage, body wraps and scrubs, hydro/chromo therapy, reflexology, and facials are also available. Massage is also offered on the beach.

The spa also contains a mirror-walled fitness room with cardio machines, weight machines, and free weights; a spa tub; and women's and men's locker rooms with saunas and steam rooms--all complimentary, as is use of the pool.

In summer and during the Easter holidays, the hotel provides complimentary supervised children's indoor and outdoor activities. A complimentary buffet breakfast is provided each morning in Brisa do Mar restaurant.

Brisa do Mar - Ocean-view dining room with booths, carpeting, cane chairs, fresh flowers, and original paintings of surrounding area. Expansive terrace. Ristorante Ca' d'Oro - Intimate, fine-dining Italian dinner restaurant. Venetian decor including glass chandeliers, carnival masks, gold-fabric wall panels, gas fireplace.

Recreation

Four championship golf courses lie within the Quinta do Lago resort development. The hotel provides complimentary shuttle service to all four and offers discounts at three. The hotel arranges for golf pro to provide private lessons (surcharges) for guests. A horse stable three km (1.75 miles) north of the hotel offers horseback riding.

Measuring 24 meters (80 feet), a heated, irregularly shaped pool, a 5.5-meter-diameter (18-foot) children's pool, and a 10-person spa tub provide year-round family recreation. A 10.5-by-4.5-meter (35-by-15-foot) heated indoor pool located in a glass-walled pavilion within the hotel's health spa contains jets for hydrotherapy and provides a current to swim against.

Approximately 300 meters (328 yards) from the hotel, a 250-meter (273-yard) bridge leads to a beach that extends for miles along the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel provides complimentary lounge chairs, umbrellas, and towels on the beach and offers complimentary shuttle service to the bridge. Complimentary fruit and water are provided to guests on the beach as well as around the pool in summer.

During summer, independent operators rent personal watercraft, sailboats, and pedal boats on the beach and offer parasailing and water skiing. A water sports center on a lake 250 meters (273 yards) from the hotel rents sailboats, windsurfers, kayaks, and pedal boats in summer.

The hotel includes two tennis courts (surcharge), rents bicycles, and provides aerobics and yoga on request for surcharges.

Ria Formosa Natural Park, which surrounds the hotel and extends for 60 km (37.5 miles) along the coast, is a protected ecosystem of lagoons, marshes, sandy islands, and peninsulas. Waterfowl thrive in the park. Bordering the lagoon directly in front of the hotel are three km (1.75 miles) of nature trails that provide bird watching as well as views of Roman ruins. The hotel rents binoculars and sells guidebooks to the nature trails.

“Truly wonderful and are going back in September - cant wait!”

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so special and I personally felt like a wee Princess! The reception staff were so friendly and helpful and the staff overall were all lovely. The restaurant staff were amazing, so helpful and always smiling. The waiters at night were wonderful, in the restaurants and also the Laguna Bar where we went for pre dinner drinks. The chef was so helpful and made any meal that we wanted. I loved their chocolate souffle and had it 3 nights running!! We have been to many 5 star Hotels throughout the world and we both can honestly say that this, for us is the best . It has its own beach and you are made to feel so special there too with your sunbed all ready with towels and drinks brought to you on request. We went for a swim every morning in the indoor pool before the wonderful breakfast and the girls there were just lovely with everything so clean and ready for us when we arrived at 8am when it opened. If you want to feel truly special and relaxed then go to this wonderful Hotel.

“Living in the past”

I've been a little harsh in my ratings but given the cost of staying in this hotel you do expect the best - and that was not provided. The location is excellent, but the hotel is tired and lifeless. West facing rooms have wonderful views, but the rooms themselves are unexciting, with the bathrooms very old fashioned with showers in the bath still! The leisure facilities fall way below what a hotel of this calibre should provide - a small gym with equipment unrepaired for 3 days - small pools: a spa that is plonk in the middle of all the noise of swimming pool/ gym and kids playing table tennis. The front desk give the impression that you are lucky to be provided entry to their hotel - not what I expect from a supposedly top hotel.
