“Great hotel for the money!”
The only reason I did not give the Hotel Faro a 5 on the comfort of my room is that it was a smoking room, so the smell was pretty overwhelming when you first walked in. Other than that, it really was an excellent hotel. It was well-decorated and the staff were extremely courteous and helpful, as you would expect in a high-class establishment. It is still a "European 4-star" hotel, which is closer to an American 3-star hotel, but all the other European 4-stars I stayed in were the same way. The location was extremely convenient - less than a minute's walk from the bus station and right in the middle of everything. In addition, the complimentary breakfast was extremely good and it was all-you-can-eat, which is extremely unusual for European hotels. The view from the rooftop restaurant/bar is outstanding.
“Central gem”
Excellent choice for a short break. Friendly effecient staff, great location, close to the bus stop for the airport and beach. Plenty of local places to eat and drink.
“wonderful”
Hotel was clean, service was efficient, breakfast which was included in price was excellent. Highly recommended. Nice town also
“Hotel Faro for convenience”
We were pleased with our 3 night stay at the hotel. It is very convenient for all that there is to see in the city. The restaurants we had checked out on line were all quite nearby ... in fact the view from our window was the back entrance to "Restaurante Cost Algeria" .. worth a visit. Our only small gripe is that they do not provide tissues in the bathroom. And Yes there can be some noise in the early hours, but if you do enough in the daytime you should so tired you'll sleep through it! Breakfast was great with a wide range of food to choose from. Staff at desk were very helpful. Handy, friendly bar (with snacks)next door to Hotel!!
“Hotel Faro”
Small but confortable holtel in a good location Breakfast was very good except the coffee which was extremely strong - and I like stong coffee! Can be a little noisey at night due to people going home late so take some ear plugs if you think it may annoy you. Don't let this put you off it is a good hotel and the view from the roof is very good indeed.
“A good hotel.”
The hotel Faro is ideally situated overlooking the harbour. Every where is only a brief walk away. Plenty of choice for bars and resturants. The hotel is very nice and bright. We checked in and out at the end of our four night stay very quickly, and found the staff very helpful. We had one evening meal in the hotel. The menu was a bit limited, but the food was good. Just be careful if you are a big eater, you may need a Mcdonalds after as the portions are not very big. We found after the five days we had just about seen what there was to see. The train station is only a few minuets walk from the hotel and you can get a train to various places at a very good price. The bus station is even nearer if you want to explore by bus. Their is not a lot for youngsters to do in Faro and no beach.Overall we had a great stay in Faro and would go back again, and would not hesitate at staying at the Hotel Faro. Our visit was in March 2007.
“My first expedia experience”
I was delighted that the hotel matched the notes on the expedia site. I went in my wheelchair for only a few days and managed to get around the hotel very easily and the location of this delightful hotel was perfect for me to self propel around the old town and the new. An exceptional experience for one travelling by wheelchair on ones one.
“5 star service and quality”
Hotel staff and room excelent, food exceptinal, all 5 star service
“great view”
Great hotel at the heart of Faro friendly staff and excellent food. great views over faro and the habour and out to sea.
“Nice hotel in a good location”
Faro is a nice hotel located next to the marina, few steps from the boat cruise point and next to the bus stop from where the buses to the local beach run from. The comfort of the hotel is good, the bathroom is large and comfy and the roof terrace with a lovely view on marina makes breakfast a nice and relaxing wake up. The only drawback is that the rooms seem a little bit too clean and not too cozy but overall a great hotel for a long weekend.

Faro, Portugal: This bustling characterful little town, gateway to the region, is overlooked by most Algarve visitors. Its elegant cobbled, peaceful Old Town is a delight for strolling. The Cathedral is its highlight; climb to the top for wonderful views across Faros lagoon. The newer, late 19th-century part of town is a likeable jumble of shopping streets, local bars and restaurants, a regional museum and the Carmo Church with a ghoulish bone chapel.
