“Ideal location on the beach, good hotel, great service, great sunsets”
Booked last minute but we weren't disappointed. Very warm welcome from multi-lingual staff. Good standard of accommodation. Great breakfasts. Spent most of the time by the pool (which is just above the beach) and on the beach. Bar overlooks the beach and is ideal for watching the sunset. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant but found a good restaurant called Clipper just a few minutes walk away (good for fish). We'd highly recommend the hotel. We were a couple looking for a quiet relaxing break in the sun - it delivered!
“very happy with the hotel and the improvements to the Promenade”
Hotel and the resort were very good , The flights with Easyjet were dreadful, with delays boh ways then treating travellers with no concern. e.g. requiring return passengers to go to gate B52 in Faro when the aircraft had yet arrived from Bristol. The security at Bristol Airport preventing me from taking toothpaste on board unless I purchased a small plastic bag from them at £1.Just how does rhat make the toothpaste safe? Brylcream hair cream was classed as a liquid and confiscated why could that not be treated in the same manner as the toothpaste. These things make travelling so unpleasant. C.M. Buckley
“life's a beach”
This hotel is pretty near perfect. Right on the beach, quiet part of town. if you're looking for wild nights may not be your cup of tea, otherwise fantastic
“Great hotel. Best we have stayed in in Algave.”
We found the hotel to be well sited in an area that at this time of year was quiet. Restaurants , cafes and shops open but not the crowds. The hotel was situated right next to the beach. Our room looked out over the sea and beach. We opted for an executive room which I would recommend you do. It was modern, large and had a double aspect view. The staff at the hotel were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good but we didn't eat there in the evening as we had opted to eat locally for this week. There was a wide range of places to eat within walking distance. Although the evening menu at the hotel looked good. We did eat in the bar when we arrived late evening and this was good. Bar prices were cheap for a hotel we thought ,especially if you aimed to be there at happy hour. Rooms had a kettle and there were plenty of teabags etc replaced daily. The hotel was run very efficiently and the reception staff helpful. We opted not to hire a car. There was a bus stop next to the hotel as was the taxi rank.. The hotel is great for walking along the beach to the left or right along the beach and then up onto the cliffs were you can walk all day. We opted to walk on one day for about 6 hour have a late lunch and taxi back. We have stayed at 4 other 5 and 4 star hotels in the Algarve and this was by far the most enjoyable stay. We left relaxed and refreshed.. We will be back next year.
“Not for young couples, average hotel but nice relaxing break...”
Just returned after a week at the Holiday Inn Algarve, the hotel's location is great, right on the beach. We are a couple in our early 30's but found the average age group of people there was 60. Very quiet, nothing to do in the hotel. Pool area was ok, but sunbed areas staggered over 2 levels, pool level beds tend to get taken very early by the oap's and dutch who are up at the crack of dawn, but this didn't bother us too much as the beach was beautiful. There are sunbeds for hire on the beach (right infront of the hotel) costs about 6 euros a bed. These are not owned by the hotel. Hotel beach towels are 10 euro deposit each which you get back at the end of your stay and you are able to change these in for clean ones anytime. Breakfast staff make you feel very rushed. Breakfast is 7.30-11am but a minute past 10 they are clearing tables (not food) and deliver dagger looks as you walk in. Food amicable, nice Pastries, yoghurts, fruit and fresh orange juice. Egg & bacon didn't taste great. Not that many restaurants within walking distance to the hotel, maybe 6-8 so a week to 10 days the most is more than enough if staying at this hotel. No night life whatsover, no market stools etc, but we were there late season. Rooms on Floors 1 and 2 are all old and have not yet been refurbished, beds are extremely hard!! Floors 3,4 & 5 have been refurbished and beds are fine. All hotel staff speak English and reception staff very helpful.
“Only hotel right on 5 km beach.”
Great location, great beach, great part of the world.
“Holiday Inn, Armacao de Pera”
Overall the hotel was fine. However our bathroom was very small and it was a bit difficult for older people to get in and out of the bath. Breakfasts were superb but the fresh fruit ran out quickly and was not replaced.
“Rooms not up to Holiday Inn standard”
Position of hotel fantastic,Great breakfast,Great views,Let down by the poor rooms and very small balconies. The rooms and passages need to be refurbished,The entrance,Foyer, resturant and bar areas are 4 star its just the rooms and hallways that let it down
