“Very nice”
Was very happy with this hotel. It is well located, comes with a kitchen. The rooms near the water are not air-conditioned. We chose to move to the main Building for the air conditioner. Managers accommodated us and were very pleasant. I would go back there.
“Nice place nice area”
We enjoyed our stay very much. Found the staff brilliant and the room very good. All grounds maintained to a very high standard. Five minutes walk to the beach and three great pools to choose from (though usual problem reserving sun beds). Location excellent only five minute taxi drive from Albuferia Old Town which we loved (taxi cost 5-6 euro each way). All in all we had a great time. Ideal place to relax and enjoy the views. Evening entertainment was ok but basic though we went out most evenings, thoroughly enjoyed the Portugese dancing.
“Nicely located above ocean with beach access”
Quiet section of a quaint, if not touristy, town. Hotel was resort-like with everything you need, including children's activities, pool, bars, and ocean access. Reasonable rates in off-season.... great get-a-way to explore southern Portugal and Spain, with close proximity to airport. Only suggestion: bring your own towels! They do not provide extras on a daily basis and none for the pool when we were there in October.
“Not great”
This hotel was a tourist trap and VERY cheesy. The owner is obviously extremely cheap as I was charged for EVERYTHING, from 6 euro for a HALF hour of internet to nearly 3 euro to make a call to set up my TRANSFER to the airport. Overall tacky and, while I would return to the Algarve coast for its natural beauty, I would not return to commericalized and corny Alburferia and I definitely would not spend my money at Alfagar. Only redeeming quality was the restaurant/bar staff.. very friendly and good service!
