“2 star hotel with 5 star view”

If you want luxury and confort this is not your place. Although, if you are looking for a cheap place, well located and with great sea view I recommend this one.

“'Premium Economy' Backpackers Hotel”

This hotel is ideally located close to the restaurant end of town, but not so close that you get the noise from the town bars. The rooms were large and well equipped, with cooking facilities and air conditioning. The bedroom walls were paper thin and the beds were rock hard though, so we could hear everything the neighbours were doing as we tossed and turned to sleep. The general feel of the place was that it needed some money spending on it, but there were signs of rooms being renovated and some builders working on the exterior. All in all, I felt it was good value for money compared to some of the other hotels I have stayed at in Airlie Beach.

Traveller's tip
Take one of the cruises from Abel Point Marina to Reef World or Whitsunday Cruises to snorkel the Barrier Reef. Alternatively, ReefJet is cheaper and you get to see Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet and Lookout Point, plus the coral and snorkelling is just as good.
