“Lovely garden with views of the temples”
The Colleverde Park Hotel is similar to a US hotel in terms of the building and rooms. It is near to the main sight, the valley of the temples, and at the edge of the city. Our room was comfortable, quiet, and clean. It overlooked the temples at Agrigento although they were in the distance. The staff spoke excellent English and were helpful and welcoming. The hotel has a lovely garden with views over the temple valley which would be very romantic for drinks and dinner but, alas, not in November when we were there. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant which was a bit formal but the food was well prepared. The majority of guests during our 1 night stay were business men. One can walk to the temples from the hotel; however, it is a long walk and uphill on the way back. The walk from the hotel down to the eastern end of the complex lacks sidewalks part of the way. There was parking at the hotel. There is a trattoria across the street but access to banks or other restaurants would require a car or bus trip up to the city. We would stay at the hotel again if we returned to Agrigento.
“Nice Hotel in a great location for a visit to Valley of the Temples”
Nice modern hotel located within a short walk of the Museum and the Valley of the Temples entrance. Also the hotel has a great terrace for enjoying a glass of wine and viewing the temples from a distance. Nice buffet breakfast was included with our room cost... I did not eat in the dinning room.. it seems a little more formal than what I wanted the evening I was there.
“A pleasant surprise”
this hotel caters to tour groups and I booked it because it looked convenient to the archaeology area and provided parking. I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I found that the staff was very efficient and well-organized. When several tour buses disgorged their hordes of tourists, with mountains of luggage, the only noticeable effect was on the ability to use the elevator. Otherwise, their presence had a minimal effect. The grounds behind the hotel are beautiful with an interesting combination of tropical trees and plants –even a mature cork tree as you enter the garden from the hotel lounge area! The gardens were apparently not on the tour’s agenda and were pretty much empty during our visit. There are two open-air pavilions that overlook the Greek temples and the sea. The rooms, although not luxurious, were clean and functional and had a solid pergo-type faux wood flooring that I find much preferable to carpet since is can be cleaned. The wifi was free and flawless. The down stairs common areas were well appointed and the furniture looked new and was well-maintained and complemented the oriental rugs used throughout the lounge areas. The restaurant staff was very professional and despite the crowds from the tour group, there were no delays and the dining area did not seem that crowded. Breakfast was included in the cost and, although not exotic, it had a wide variety of standard fare. If I were to visit this area again, I would plan on staying there.
“Fantastic view and gardens”
The room was spacious, the view of the temples was fantastic. very convenient to visit the temples. The garden at the hotel was awfully pretty. Restaurant so so. Only down side...... coffee at breakfast was from a machine!
