“Magnificent!!!!!”
Dear Expedia, We stayed in 2 hotels in Adelaide both booked on Expedia and both with a 4 star rating. This Hotel "Sebel Playford Adelaide" was fabulous. The other Hotel "The Stamford Plaza" was a dump. Don't make the same mistake we did and whatever you do, avoid the Stamford Plaza. Trying to understand how Expedia could have rated both of these properties 4 Stars.
“Can't believe the room was so quiet”
Despite being in the heart of Adelaide, the room I stayed in was sooo quiet, I slept exceedingly well. The hotel staff were very friendly and informative.
“Most impressed”
Very friendly but efficient staff in all areas.
“not bad for Adelaide”
Perfectly fine hotel except the food wasn't good at the bar and the breakfast setup is about as cheerful as a gas chamber. My advice for anyone staying here would be to eat somewhere else. I am also irked by hotels like this one that claim to be business-friendly yet have a strict limit on internet downloads that prohibit the transfer of large files.
“Will Stay Again if in Adelaide”
The hotel is on North Terrace, so very close to the cbd, transport hubs, Rundle Mall and the casino. I was upgraded to a "loft" room, which was a really spacious apartment with the bed on a high mezzanine platform. The decor was tasteful, the room clean and everything worked as expected. In Adelaide, you are often presented with "water saver" showers that spray a fine mist. I was pleasantly surprised to have a a waterfall shower head in the room - MAGIC! The service was generally high standard, the porter made a very good impression. I had a slight problem when checking out because my expedia voucher (i.e. evidence I'd prepaid) hadn't been attached to my bill. Thank goodness for iPhones - I had the information at my finger tips, which finally prompted the reception girl to search for the voucher. All in all, it was sorted out, so no real issue, but recommend printing out your statement from expedia if staying there just in case. I've stayed at several different hotels in Adelaide city over the past 3 years and this was definitely in the top two. I can really recommend it for business or leisure and I will certainly book a room there next time I'm in Adelaide.
“Second Visit To This Classy Hotel”
This was my second stay at this classy hotel and the experience again means it would be my choice of a place to stay in Adelaide. The hotel is conveniently situated on the edge of town, near the railway and tram stations with lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance. It also has a really good ambience, as it is a reasonable size, but not so big that you feel just like a room number. The staff are eager and willing to please. This time though one of the check in staff was a bit offhand with me, maybe he had had a bad day. I really like the rooms here, they are comfortable and well appointed and the beds ensured a comfortable night's sleep. I have not bothered with the breakfast on either of my visits as there are plenty of good cafes nearby that cost a lot less and are filled with locals. On my last visit I had a couple of late drinks in the bar with some friends and had a pleasant time and a couple of nightcaps, the bar staff again were very friendly. The hotel has a small business centre which was perfectly adequate for what I needed and was a life saver. My only gripes, some of which you could direct at most hotels, are that the minibar prices seemed very high and there was no bottled water supplied that was not chargeable. There is a 24 hour convenience store only a 2 minute walk away so that is something that is easy to overcome should you choose to do so.
