“Very Nice Hotel With A Good Location”
My wife and I stayed for two nights and found our room to be of excellent quality for the price. Coming from the U.S.A, everything in Australia is expensive - especially traveling - however, in relation to other hotels we've stayed in for this price, the Grand Chifely was great! The bed wasn't very comfortable, as it was quite firm; however, it still provided a good nights sleep. The rooms are very clean, modern, and the upper floor balconies provide nice views of the city and nearby parks. There is a small restaurant in the hotel, but it seemed overpriced. Much cheaper to just go into the city center and eat there. The hotel is located on the south side of the city center, so it might be a bit far for walking around that part of town. From my understanding the tram is free inside the city center area (inside the major streets/Terraces - North, South, East, and West), so that would be a great option. We had a car and this hotel was a in a perfect spot to get quickly out to Cleland Park, Handorf, Barossa Valley, and the beaches in the opposite direction. Would definitely stay again.
“Adelaide”
Great Location and friendly staff
“Good location, a renovation would help”
Good hotel in a great location. Could do with a renovation, though that aside rooms were clean and staff were great. May struggle to compete with the new Crowne Plaza without a renovation, but overall a good hotel.
“Pleasant stay”
We were upgraded to a refurbished room. Decent size and fittings. Hotel is opposite park lands. Breakfast was OK, a standard buffet. Book it the night before for a discount rate. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. We will stay again.
“Ideal for our short break”
We stayed here in the school summer holidays for 3 nights before heading down south. The room was a little on the small side - but then again there were 4 of us in it as we didn't want to pay for 2 rooms (we also didn't spend much time in it). All the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. We got a great rate with breakfast included - hot breakfasts were cooked to order and served to the table in the week but buffet style on the weekend (less good at the weekend because of this). The location was perfect for us - on the edge of the city, so nice and quiet, but still walkable or there was a free tram nearby. There is a park over the road with children's play equipment and walking/running tracks. We used the pool at the Country Motel next door and could also have used the pool at the Chiefley next door to that. There were a few local restaurants nearby - but by no means any busy nightlife. We were able to leave our luggage on the day of check-out and pick it up later in the day.
“Not impressed tried to double bill us for breakfast.”
Don't get room 109 next to laundry, there is a noisy fridge compresser 6 ft from bedroom window,it cuts in & out all night.Must be the worst room in motel complex.
“it was ok for location”
hotel location was good for walking into the centre of town and close to the buses and trams. hotel does require a refit as a 4*+ it is not! right next door to the local school.
“"Grand"? Who are they kidding?”
This is not a "Grand" Hotel. It's a converted motel and boy does it look like it! Our first room was on level 6. Very plain room but it had a view of South Terrace and the parkland. After "spending a penny" we discovered that the cistern in the bathroom was leaking and it was noisy. We went to Reception and told we had two options: 1. Wait till the next day for a plumber to fix it or 2. Swap rooms We opted to swap rooms but again this was a plain room, most possibly 80's in style with a slightly more modern bathroom! The room was on level 1 and our view was completely blocked by anoyher part of the hotel building. Room Service was untidy and attention to detail was lacking. Beds were made, albeit roughly and towels looked like they were "thrown" onto the rack
“Honest staff and convenient location”
Stayed for one night only. Close to airport. Staff were responsive to our needs. One purse was forgotten in the room after we checked out. Staff were very honest and returned the purse intact.
“Nice hotel”
Nice hotel, clean, good service and good price for the city location. Pool is shared with the hotel next door. Big city park across the street. Only problem we encountered was not getting a message left at the front desk (which we asked about and they could not find), which led to a bit of unnecessary worry. Also got some misinformation about being able to mail an article we left in the room. (One person said they could, another later said they were not allowed to) Otherwise, very prompt with service, like extra towels and fixing the TV.
