In the northern Thuringian Forest, the cultural city of Weimar was home to Goethe, Schiller and Bach, among many others. It houses 22 UNESCO-listed buildings including the city church, Residential Palace, Widow's Palace and the former residences of Goethe and Schiller, both museums. There are numerous palaces, homes and parks to visit, including the famous Park an der Ilm. Buchenwald concentration camp is 10 kilometres away.
